Jau Umandal may not be compared with the most famous male volleyball stars in the Philippines such as Mark Espejo and Bryan Bagunas but the young brush is being expected to bring good achievements for the home team.
Jau Umandal becomes the leading star leading the Philippine male volleyball team to attend the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia in May. He is also one of the three remaining members from the previous year's squad.
The fact that a series of stars declared not to concentrate the island volleyball team made Jau Umandal become the most influential and international experience in the Philippine squad in the upcoming tournament.
Sharing with the press, Jau Umandal said: “We will guide the young athletes, after all, they are not new players. They just need to adapt to the way the coach is applying.
The team is where we can help and guide new players to follow the coach's curriculum as well as the best way to integrate into the team. ”
Jau Umandal also said that he did not put pressure on himself. Although not like two famous teammates, he will fulfill his role and focus on the goal of winning the SEA Games gold medal 32 men's volleyball.
At the upcoming SEA Games 32, Jau Umandal was also assigned the captain's armband and was highly expected after the 31st SEA Games period in Vietnam when eliminated from the group stage.
