The Italian women's volleyball team has just ended two days off after the first week of Volleyball Nations League 2023 to start focusing on preparing for the second week.
The team will gather at the Giulio Onesti Olympic training center at Romes before moving to Hong Kong (China) for the second week of competition here from June 13-18.
To prepare for this week, coach Davide Mazzanti has summoned 18 athletes along with Ekaterina Antropova, a Russian -based athlete who is waiting for the official Italian nationality. She will attend training with the team but not yet competing.
In this list, there is the return of Francesca Villani and Eleonora Fersino as well as parting Antalya due to injury before this year's tournament.
Notably, in this list there is no “volleyball monster” Paola Egonu, who has just helped Vakifbank win the Champions League champion who are currently enjoying their vacation.
Italian women's volleyball has the first week of failure to have only won the only victory over Thai women's volleyball team, a close victory on the opening day.
Later, Italy lost to the United States, Poland and Türkiye in turn to close the week in the final group. And with Egonu not coming back, this team is expected to continue to receive more failures in the upcoming week.
