Japanese Labor Federation Chairman Shunichi Kawai recently announced the possibility of increasing the number of teams participating in the world and female championship volleyball tournament both men and women in the 2026 tournament scheduled to be held in this country.

The World Volleyball Federation has confirmed that. Under the latest agreement, the world championship volleyball tournament will have 32 teams participating instead of 24 teams today.

32 volleyball teams will be divided into 8 groups, each selecting 2 names to the knockout round 1/16, quarterfinals, semi -finals and finals. This format will apply to both the tournament for men and women.

This is different from the 2022 male and female volleyball championship when the two tournaments have two different competition formats and controversial with the recent branch.

Meanwhile, the 2024 Paris Olympic Games also announced the list of teams participating in this tournament.

Accordingly, 24 world and female volleyball teams not include the host country of the French will participate in the expected qualifying round in December next year. The Paris Olympic qualifying round will be divided into 3 tournaments including the 2023 World Cup in Japan.

Regarding the Russian volleyball team, if the ban is lifted before the qualifying round, the two Russian volleyball men and women teams will attend these tournaments.

Otherwise, these two will be for China in the men's and Peruvian tournament in the female tournament.
