Kumi Nakada started playing volleyball in junior high school, she was known to be able to beat the ball with both hands and was called in the Japanese national team in 1980 when she was 15 years old.

Regarding the coaching career, she started as a training assistant at the team that was attached to her before going to Italy to develop her career. In 2011, she returned to Japan as the head coach of Hisamitsu Spring and created the powerful empire of this team over the years.
She now returns to the whole team to lead this team after defeating in the Olympic Games and helped the home team have impressive achievements in the past season when ranking first national tournament.
