Japanese volleyball overlooked ASIAD, only appointed B squad to attend

While Asian countries such as Thailand, South Korea or North Korea bring Asiad the strongest squad to compete for the ASIAD 2023 volleyball medal, Japan is different.

The Japan Football Federation and the Olympic Committee of this country only bring its B squad in both men and women's content. The most famous stars of Japanese volleyball will not attend.

The reason is that the Japanese volleyball federation wants two men and women to focus on the Paris 2024 Olympic volleyball qualifying round that takes place close to the time of ASIAD 19.

The goal of Japanese volleyball is to win a ticket to the summer Olympics next year. Right now, Asiad is no longer the goal of Japanese volleyball. Even the continental tournaments such as the Asian championship, the Asian League Cup, Japan only sends its youth team or the two two squad.
