Brazilian volleyball legend died at the age of 62 because of pneumonia

Isabel Salgado, a former indoor volleyball player and Brazilian beach, died at the age of 62 after being hospitalized for a while. Isabel Salgado is considered legendary, the pioneer brings success to Samba volleyball.

Isabel Salgado is considered one of the greatest volleyball athletes in Brazil, she died at a hospital in Sao Paolo after being hospitalized for pneumonia and did not survive afterwards.

She attended two Olympics, Moscow 1980 and Los Angeles 1984 in indoor volleyball and switched to beach volleyball in the 1990s.

Although in the two Olympic Games she attended Brazil, there was no medal, it was the first time in the history of Brazilian volleyball participation in the most prestigious playground in the world and started the successes later.

In beach volleyball, she is also one of the pioneers in the world and brought it closer to the public.

Isabel Salgado is also the first Brazilian athlete to play abroad, when she went abroad to Italy in 1980 to play for Modena. Her three children also have success in beach volleyball and reach the world's leading level.

One of her famous stories in her career was in a friendly match against Japan in 1982, when the crowd of 20,000 spectators shouted to show hostility to the Japanese.

At that time, the 22 -year -old Isabel Salgado used the player's notification speaker and said that if the fans were constantly cursing at Asians, she would leave the game. The match was later continued and Brazil lost to Japan but the audience had no ridicule as before.
