Late on 23/5, Mr. Somphon Chaibangyang – President of Thai Volleyball Labor Federation was at the airport to welcome two Thai male and female volleyball teams to attend the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam.
The girls recruiting Thai women's volleyball successfully defended the gold medal after surpassing the Vietnamese team 3-0 in the final. This is the 15th gold medal of Thai women's volleyball in the SEA Games and is the 13th consecutive gold medal.

Contrary to the joy of women's volleyball, the Thai men's volleyball team has a forgotten SEA Games when they only won the 4th place of the tournament after losing to Cambodia 2-3 in the bronze match.
This is a disappointing achievement when the goal of the Thai male volleyball team at the 31st SEA Games is a gold medal, fair competition with Indonesia.
Somphon Chaibangyang said the Thai female gold medal is a favorable start for the new generation of athletes, this is also an important test before the Volleyball Nations League, Asian Women's Volleyball Cup and the 2022 Women's Volleyball Volleyball Tournament.
At this congress, the women's volleyball team and beach volleyball brought two gold medals but the shocking achievement of the male team is a need to review and find a solution to regain its future position, Mr. Somphon Chaibangyang added.

Coach Danai Sriwatcharamethakul of Thai women's team said the gold medal was only the beginning of the goal of gaining achievements in the tournaments this year. The tournaments of Thailand will be much more difficult.
While the female team was left with 3 tournaments, the Thai men's volleyball team only had Asian volleyball trophy in Taiwan from August 7-14.
