This year's international volleyball season begins with the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2022, this is the annual tournament for the 16 most powerful male and female volleyball teams in the world.
Except for Russian volleyball, all the world famous teams and volleyball stars will participate in this tournament. The bonus for VNL 2022 is also very high to attract the teams.
According to the announcement of FIVB – the World Volleyball Federation, the champion of the tournament will receive 1,000,000 USD bonuses, the runner -up receives $ 500,000, the third team receives $ 300,000. The 4th ranked team received 150,000 USD, 2 teams ranked 5-6 to receive 75,000 USD.
Regarding the personal award category, MVP – the best athlete will receive $ 30,000 in the prize while other personal prizes will receive $ 10,000.
In the group stage, each match will bring $ 13,000 for both teams, namely $ 9,000 for the winning team and 4000 USD for the loss team. Thus, the total bonus of the tournament will fall around 4 million USD.
The two men and women champions will receive the same bonus, ensuring gender equality in volleyball that many sports have not done.
The Brazilian men's volleyball team and American women's volleyball are the champions of the tournament.
This year, VNL 2022 changed the competition format. The shortened qualifying round into 3 weeks of competition with the number of weeks. After competing in the qualifying round, the top 8 teams will reach the quarterfinals to compete in the knockout format.
This is a new format different from previous seasons to increase competitiveness for the tournament. This year, the tournament was also invested by teams because of the direct influence on the race to win tickets to the Paris Olympic Games 2024,
