Initially, the tournament would be held in Russia but later, Russia was canceled the host country and was also banned from participating in the tournament of the World Volleyball Federation. Ukraine is the Russian replacement team to participate in this year's tournament.
The 2022 World Championship men's volleyball tournament consists of 24 teams, divided into 6 tables each. This is the year of shortening the number of matches compared to previous world championships when there is only one group stage before the teams will enter the round of 1/16 live types.
The group stage of the world championship will take place from 26/8-1/September to select the second two teams each and 4 teams ranked 3rd with the best achievement to enter the round 1/16.
